With fall in sight and days of summer coming to an end, preparations for going back to school are in full swing!  Parents and educators are looking for ways to provide the best educational experience possible in this Corona virus world.

In light of the chaos created in the classrooms of 2020, finding materials that are effective in traditional classrooms, virtual classes and homeschooling as well, are in high demand.  The good news is there are exciting developments in education these days.  Creative people got to work, as they tend to do in challenging times, producing new, innovative resources that are now being offered this fall, just in time for the “Back to School” season.

Let me introduce you to a new resource that I am especially thrilled about.

Nature Narratives (www.naturenarrativespodcast.com) are short dramatic episodes that entertain and educate in the home and in real and virtual classrooms.  Launched as an alternative to the constant screen gazing in this Corona virus time, Nature Narratives podcast tells the adventures of natural phenomena through dramatic stories.

One of the unique features of Nature Narratives is its audio format.  The listener can engage with his or her imagination while listening with eyes closed, or choose to create artwork inspired by the emotionally charged world of sound.  Then for fun, any artwork created by listeners can be uploaded and showcased in the dedicated art gallery on NatureNarrativesPodcast.com

Kids will love seeing their original artwork featured in the gallery!

It is well documented that a listening experience will increase imaginative capabilities.  In a Tech Trends article on audio learning, author Gary Ferrington writes: “Being able to use one’s imagination is critical to problem solving, and is much needed for a generation of new ideas.”  He goes on to say, “Audio materials facilitate the development of reading, writing, speaking, and listening.  It is the power of audio to enhance the ability to imagine, that makes it an invaluable teaching and learning medium.”

Nature Narratives are created by musician and educator, Jonathan Byram (B.M. Composition Wheaton College, IL).  His wife, Eva Byram (M.S. Ed. University of Illinois, Montessori Certified) is an elementary school teacher who shapes the Podcast for use in classrooms.  Each Nature Narrative Podcast focuses on one awe-inspiring event in nature, allowing children to enjoy an enriching experience that actively engages them.

These adventures are like ear candy for the learner!

Nationally known Educational Consultant Bruce Osgood says this about Nature Narratives: “Jonathan Byram’s descriptive vocabulary is used in appropriate context which activates the listener’s brain to create word pictures.  The combination of Byram’s talented voice over, moving stories, beautiful music, and even the silences, bring a child into deeper levels of concentration, self-esteem and creativity.”

These fascinating true stories of God’s gift of nature are sure to deepen a child’s education while unlocking their imagination as well.  And guess what?  It’s FREE with the option of donating if you wish.  Now that’s some sweet ear candy!
